Metro PCS, last remaining store on north flank of Barclays Center, closes

Past photo
The construction activity on Atlantic Avenue on the north flank of the Barclays Center--involving lane closures, scaffolding, and a crane for the green roof--has apparently taken its toll on the Metro PCS store, the only remaining retail outlet on that side of the arena.

MetroPCS is a corporate partner of the arena. It seemed to aiming both at passers-by (few) and arena patrons (more).

But the Atlantic Avenue side of the arena was never meant for much foot traffic--remember, the Elbow Room there also died. The construction surely doesn't help.

A sign posted inside the window indicates that the outlet was closed as of April 16--perhaps not coincidentally just after the Nets' regular season ended. Metro PCS customers are being directed to the outlet on the Fulton Mall.
